The Rongetz Foundation – Broken Beat Doll

French label Heavenly Sweetness has a knack for putting out jazz albums of the highest order. ‘Broken Beat Doll’ by The Rongetz Foundation is no exception. It was released towards the end of 2010.

Led by frontman, Stephane Ronget, their approach to music it quite interesting – apparently Stephane writes the arrangements and then decides on the musicians that will best bring them to life. While he is based in New York, it was a chance meeting with Heavenly Sweetness label owner, Antoine Rajon, in a record shop in Lyon, France, that saw the album released.

Here’s the title track with an intro somewhat distinct from the rest of the song:

The album seems to move effortlessly between vocal and instrumental scores.
