Heatwave – Star of the Story

Ah, the genius of Rod Templeton. If you’re not familiar with his work then look him up on discogs. He is one of the most gifted and unheralded songwriters of recent decades. He wrote many of Heatwave’s biggest hits, including the timeless soul classic ‘Star of the Story’. Play it to your girlfriend, partner or wife. It’s that sort of song.

Rod wrote many of Michael Jackson’s biggest hits (including ‘Thriller’), as well as writing or co-writing for Rufus, Bob James, Stephanie Mills, Aretha Franklin, Mica Paris, Herbie Hancock, Brother Johnson, Quincy Jones – and so the list goes on. A bona fide star. Not bad for a guy out of Cleethorpes, England.
