I’m generally sceptical when anyone takes an MJ hit and plays with it. But Dez Andres has created a deep house edit that nicely uses the familiar key arrangement and vocal sample of ‘Rock With You’, while adding a not too overpowering deep bass beat. It’s a solid effort that has echoes of Theo Parrish/Kenny Dixon:
Dez has put out some lovely sounds ranging from more downtempo arrangements (check out ‘About Time’) to the sort of deep organic house championed by Moodymann (which sort of explains why he was signed to the Mahogani label, I guess).
Hard to find info on him, it must be said.
